Overview

The Hydra compeition is a nine week team event spanning all three of the RhyDin dueling sports. Points are earned via performance in regulation duels with bonuses award through special events, tournaments, challenges and rank advancements. No special scheduling is required, but that doesn't mean there is no place for strategy.

Team Makeup

Each team shall consist of up to 8 duelists and no duelist may be on the roster of more than a single team. Teams must officially register with the Hydra Corporation at the main office.

Please take OOC note that a player may have no more than 2 characters on a team.

Scoring of Regulation Duels

Duels fought during regulation dueling hours will be worth points to Hydra participants IF, before the duel begins, they declare it as a hydra duel. Points earned, or lost, will vary on whether both duelists are Hydra participants or if only one is. The points themselves are straight forward and work as follows.
  • Duel Win: +10 points if both are participants, +5 if only the winner is.
  • Duel Loss: -10 points if both are participants, -5 if only the loser is.
  • Duel Tie: No points are scored or lost in the event of a tie.
In addition to the above, the following events take place during the season which may impact the base +/- 5/10 scoring. They are:

DoM Twin Win Night July 3rd, 2012 - Any win in a DoM duel will double the winners score. (+10/20 rather than +5/10). Also, any duel loss to Sylus will not incure the negative points.

GameMaster's Birthday July 13th, 2012 - In celebration of Sylus' birthday, special event scoring will be in place to multiply the value of a win by the difference in score. eg: A 5-2 win between two Hydra participants would normally be worth +10. Here, since the score difference was 3, the win is valued at +30 points. Also for this event, any loss is worth 0 points.

GameMaster Duels Beginning in week 3 and continueing throughout the rest of the competition, Sylus is to count as being a Hydra participant. Scores from duels against him will be valued +/- 10 rather than +/- 5.

Beat Down Bounty July 23rd - August 2nd, 2012 - A bounty has been declared on the members of Team Beat Down, whose lead is just a little too comfortable. Any win vs a TBD member to be worth +30points rather than 10 and anyone achieving a shutout to be awarded +50.

Other types of scoring

Beyond regulation duels, players may earn their team points via successful title challenges and tournament performance. Those point awards to work as follows:

Tournaments

  • +2 for participating in the tournament.
  • +2 for each round advanced in the tournament.
  • +50 to the tournament winner.
Challenges A successful title challenge (or defense) earns +10 (+15 if Overlord or Archmage), +1 point per round of the final duel (max of +10).

Ring of Klytus The winner of the Ring of Klytus will be awarded +50 points.

Winning the Hydra Cup

The team to amass the most points over the nine week competition cycle shall be declared the winner.

Used for team and individual score Used for team score
* Candy's best 4 duels total 34, so she and her team get 34 points.
* Jake's best 4 duels total 27, so he scores 27 and brings the team up to 61
* Xanth's best 4 duels total 24, so he scores 24 and brings the team up to 85
* Maria's best (and only) 4 duels total 19, so she scores 19 and brings the team up to 104
* Anubis adds 9 points to his personal score and the team total with his 2 duels. 113 for the team
* Since Anubis only had 2 duels, we can add 2 more duels to the team total from the other members of the team, but only 1 duel from any player. The best 2, 1 from Candy and 1 from Xanth, are worth an aditional 10 points. This brings the team total for the week up to 123. Their individual scores, however, remain at 34 and 24 respectively.
